Breckenridge is one of Colorado’s cutest, most beautiful little. mountain towns. With that being said, Colorado has many of these! Breckenridge has some of the most incredible skiing/snowboarding, and lots of little shops, breweries and restaurants. If you enjoy winter sports, Breckenridge is a must see in Colorado!
Is a photography permit necessary? : in some locations!
Tip : Sunrise hikes are ideal as most of the mountains in Breck face the west, so they give the most amazing glow to your photos!
The San Juan mountains are thought by some to have the best, most varied scenery of all. There are 13 mountains that rise to over 14 THOUSAND feet, and many other magnificent mountains. There are lakes, waterfalls and streams galore!
Is a photography permit necessary? : No Tip : There is also a loop drive called the San Juan Skyway that stretches ver 236 miles. To do the whole loop would take around 7 hours, but that is without stops. If you do the entire thing, be sure to leave lots of time to stop in the towns it takes you through, do some hiking, etc. Do however be aware that there are some steep drop offs without guard rails, so be sure to check the weather and road conditions before venturing the Skyway!
Rocky Mountain National Park is one of our favorites. It is just exploding with magical hikes and abundant wildlife. While visiting, you may run into some Elk, Moose, Bighorn Sheep, Marmots, Pika, and more! When we visited RMNP, we were driving and on each side of the road in the grass were HUNDREDS of elk – it was the coolest thing!! To stay up to date on everything you need to know about the park, click here to be brought to the official national park website!
Is a photography permit necessary? : Yes
Tip : There is very minimal light pollution throughout the park, making it a magical place to stargaze and/or get some incredible astrophotography photos!
Garden of the Gods is an incredible park in Colorado Springs, providing beautiful red rock formations rising around 300′. The park allows weddings at no charge, and has six designated spots for such events, with enough room for between 25-50 people depending on the location (including your vendors). While they are free, they are first come first serve, so arriving early is a must to guarantee your spot!
Is a photography permit necessary? : No
Tip : While there is no cost to have your wedding at the park, you may help support the preservation of this beautiful destination with a $50.00 donation.
Loveland Pass is a magnificent location to visit, let alone say your VOWS there!!! It is easy to get to as it is just a drive, however the road can be dangerous with sharp turns and steep drop offs. Fun fact, Loveland is the highest mountain pass in Colorado that regularly stays open during a snowy winter season (with the exception of there being a blizzard or anything causing it to be too dangerous to risk).
Is a photography permit necessary? : Not for photography, but you will need a permit to say your vows there in general! It is a popular spot and they require a permit to make sure no damage is being done. You’ll need to contact the Clear Creek Ranger District. They will be able to walk you through what you need for your application!
Tip : If traveling during the snowy winter months, there may or may not be chain restrictions. Meaning if you have a 2WD car, you must have tire traction chains to make sure your car is drivable in the inclement weather. If you have a 2WD car and were to get into an accident leading to lane closures due to not having the chains during a snow storm, you will likely get a ticket! If renting a car while in Colorado, it is recommended to get something AWD or 4WD. Wanna look like a local? Rent a Subaru!
